On Again Off Again

We all have those things that are like fingers nails on a chalk board. For me one of them sounds something like this… “I’m going on a diet” same things only different are, “I need to go on a diet”, or “I am on a diet.”

Although I appreciate the intentions behind it I feel somewhere along the lines we went wrong. The definition of the word diet is “the kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eats.”

So either we have an out of date definition or people have it all wrong.

The idea and mindset of being on a “diet” implies that you were once not on it and at some point you will come off of it? A temporary “diet” means only one thing. It’s not sustainable. Therefore, if the diet is not sustainable then neither are your results.

Getting back to the root of the word and the foundation of our health, our diet should be sustainable and not something that is temporary. It should be healthy not hurtful or sickening. It needs to be habitual not seasonal.

As we know there’s no shortage of information out there on fitness and nutrition. Looking back at our Infobesity series (Part 1, Part 2) we can take some steps to cut out the clutter and focus but when it comes down to it there are always some people who we love to hate that just see results faster.

3 COR Warriors Tribute!

Fit SoldiersIt’s not uncommon for us to host charity events. Part of our core values is to be sacrificial. Meaning if the sweat, reps, hard work that go on within our four walls doesn’t leave here to become more then we’re wasting our time.

This past weekend we had several firsts. In our gym and community. What had originally been planned as an Obstacle Course Training Open House (not a first) changed it’s tone a couple weeks prior. An unfortunate first was that three local Colorado Obstacle Course (COR) ladies Kym, Corrina, and Elizabeth. They were excited and on their way to the Arizona Spartan Race were the victims of a tragic drunk driving accident. One took the life of one and left the other with severe injuries.
