Katie Mura
Growing up I was never involved in sports. In fact, I preferred snacktime to PE. Because I never played sports, I wasn’t very good at them, so when my friends wanted to play sports I would never participate. I also loved to eat, which led to over eating and a lack of self-control. I was consistently about 30 lbs over weight. As a teenager and young adult I was very self-conscious about my weight. I struggled with a low self-esteem and a lack of confidence. The older I got, the more frustrated I became with my body and how I looked and felt.
In the summer of 2006 I was completely fed up with my weight so I decided to make some changes. I started working out on my own and doing cardio at the gym. Then in 2008 I got a personal trainer and really started to lose weight and see results. I began to enjoy working out and even hated to miss a workout. I continued to eat better too. During that time I had lost about 30 lbs and kept if off. That’s when I met Dave Mura and decided to give boot camp a try. I was surprised by what an awesome work out I got in such a short amount of time. I found it both fun and challenging.
It’s been a year now and I love it! Every workout is different so I never get bored. Plus I work out with a great group of people who challenge and encourage me to keep pushing through. I continue to lose body fat and tone up. I ran my first half marathon in June and just signed up for my first full marathon next Spring. With the help of Fit Soldiers, I hope to continue living a healthy lifestyle and reaching new goals.
