Training for a Healthy Life

I am 45 years old, married to Tim Trostel and have two kids, Carly 14 and Timothy 11. I run a non-profit children’s theatre called Spotlight Kids Theatre which keeps me very busy. For fun I like water sports and snow skiing, watching my daughter play volleyball and my son race.  We love to do things together as a family on the weekends. Anything from camping to karaoke, we have fun and value our family time no matter what we do.

My greatest fitness struggle prior to coming to Fit Soldiers was finding something that I love and would stick with. I tried everything from Step aerobics to personal training. I would do it for a while then stop because it would get to boring.

Fit Soldier JenIt was in 2011 that I started doing small group fitness with a trainer. I loved it! Fit Soldiers boot camp is the best fit for me, because I believe it is safe and modifiable for any level you might be at, it’s different every time, there is a trainer to make sure you are doing things correctly and a small group of people to make it fun and to help encourage you. I have been doing boot camp type workouts for 5 years now and I still love it.

At Fit Soldiers I have always been encouraged, felt welcome and advised on what to do if I had an issue. I came to Fit Soldiers with a pretty bad shoulder issue. At the time I thought I would eventually have to have surgery to fix it. But with the help of the trainers, my shoulder is no longer an issue anymore.  I also got very sick in 2014 around Christmas time and came as close to death as I have ever been before. My doctors told me that if I hadn’t been so healthy before I got the illness, things may have ended differently. I am very grateful that I was able to pull through and I give a lot of credit to my fitness routine and all the nutrition advice I have been given since joining Fit Soldiers.

My goals are pretty simple. I want to be healthy, strong and fit, so I can enjoy life for a long time. I want to retire on the Cruise ship, not the nursing home. I want my kids to grow up knowing that being healthy is important and fitness is a big part of that.  I’m not training for marathons or body building competitions, just training for a healthy life.

My advice to anyone considering Fit Soldiers is just try it and don’t be afraid or feel like it would be too hard for you. Fit soldiers is a no nonsense gym. No frills, no mirrors, no egos. Just great workouts that can meet anyone’s fitness level.
